The 7 km long Praia de Boa Viagem shows real Brazilian beach culture. The city beach, protected by reefs, forms natural swimming pools at low tide in which you can cool off. But even if you don't
want to swim, you can make yourself comfortable in one of the numerous camping chairs. Every few meters, beach vendors and the typical Brazilian barracas invite you to enjoy delicacies and
refreshments. With ice-cold drinks, grilled fish or a fresh coconut, you can enjoy beach life under parasols.
After dark the nightlife begins, which has a very special charm on Boa Viagem beach. At night the beach and sea are well lit. This means you can swim or walk on the beach even in the dark. After

A chapel built around 1700 marked the beginning of this former fishing colony. The priest placed an image of the Virgin Mary with the inscription "Bon Voyage" to protect the fishermen. This
blessing later gave both the beach and the neighborhood its name.
In 1859, the railway from Recife to São Francisco reached the neighborhood, making it a desirable
place. A milestone was the construction of the Agamenon Magalhães Bridge in 1953. Boa Viagem was now more easily accessible by car.
A drive-in cinema existed before the arrival of shopping centers. The Recife Shopping Center opened in 1980. It changed the way people shopped in the city.
The 7-kilometer-long promenade along the coconut-lined coast is ideal for walking, running and
cycling. A separate bike path ensures safety. There are 14 sports
fields, five children's playgrounds and ten clean public toilets along the promenade. There are also 30 stainless steel fitness
machines available.
The centerpiece, in the second garden section (segunda jardim), has a jogging track with ecological
asphalt. An area for physical activities for the elderly and an open-air academy.
